Someone gave me a stick of theirs to look at, it sounded like the USB cable was damaged or had some sort of short in it.
The lights in the X-Box button were on but very dim when plugged in, but they turned on. Neither the X-Box nor a PC is acknowledging the device when plugged in.
My ability to troubleshoot this sort of problem pretty much stops at, is 5V running over USB, are there any shorts that are supposed to be open or open circuit where there is supposed to be a short. If my answers to those questions are yes, no, then no, I'm not sure where to proceed.
Using this as a reference, the boards aren't identical, but they are pretty similar

I'm a bit unfamiliar with Hori's boards in general. But on the top right set of contacts, CN3_1, the top and 3rd (counted from the top) are both ground, not sure if that is supposed to be the case. What's really unusual is that there is less than .1V difference across buttons that haven't been depressed, making me believe power is not getting where it needs to go, but I don't really know where to go from here.
