PS2 stick modding and converter Q's

So I mentioned in a previous discussion about me picking up about mayflash universal fightstick as I wanted it for the use of playing all my ps2 fighters.

And since I have a dreamcast and sega saturn I also purchased these converters for my ps2 fightstick:

PS2 >Dreamcast converter
(Total control plus)

PS2>Saturn converter
(Classic joypad converter by goldenshop/Tototek)

When I use the DC converter there's a switch which allows all four main buttons and also R1 & R2 to be user so it looks like the classic 6 button setup which I'm happy about.
However on the saturn it allows 8 button setup but scrambles the buttons and when i was playing Xmen:CotA the button layout was terrible mainly due to the saturn having 6 buttons and then a L&R too. I've went into the button configuration but no luck.

Would I be better off buying a 6 button ps2 stick and are there any good ones. Or would I be be better of buying a pcb which had a ps2 wire so i can connect my own button and joystick to it.

The mayflash universal stick I'm using has all the buttons soldered on, and would be much easier if I could just fit them into slots on the pcb. Are there any ways around this?

I checked out the namco ps1/ps2 stick and it has square,X,O, triangle, R1, R2.

And the soul calibur 2 stick has the same main for buttons but has R1 and L1 instead?

So does anyone have any experience with the saturn converters, i mean I've looked at posts and it does seem that this converter has odd button mapping.

I'm unsure what would be best for my converters? I don't really need an 8 button stick for old fighters and a 6 button would do if that would be the best option. Or even remove 2 buttons from an 8 button stick to make it 6 buttons.

Thanks
Anth
